SCREEN SHARING NOT WORKING ON MAC

Requirements to join on Chrome 64-bit (Chrome Extension)

  1. Chrome 38+**
  2. One of these versions of WebEx (http://kb.webex.com/WBX84336)***

Chrome 38 is currently the beta version and can be downloaded here.  It will be going to the Stable channel in about a month (release dates are subject to change per Google)

Workaround (if needed)

If your site has not upgraded yet or you cannot use Chrome 38+ then please use one of the following workarounds until your site meets the requirements:

  1. Use Chrome 32-bit
  2. Use Firefox, Internet Explorer, or Safari (Mac only)

Some companies have chosen not to update their site and will not get the Extension update.  Without the update, WebEx cannot support Chrome 64-bit.  Rollout dates are subject to change.

To check your Chrome version

  1. Open Chrome
  2. Type the following into your address bar and press enter: chrome://chrome/

To check your WebEx site version

  1. Navigate to your site
  2. Click “Support” in the left NAV
  3. Click “User Guides” in left NAV
  4. Look for the “Application version” on the right side

Turn on screen sharing on your Mac

  1. On your Mac, choose Apple menu > System Preferences, then click Sharing.
  2. If Remote Management is selected, deselect it.
  3. You can’t have both Screen Sharing and Remote Management on at the same time.
  4. Select the Mac OS Screen Sharing tickbox.
  5. To specify who can share your screen, select one of the following:
    1. All users: Any of your computer’s users can share your screen, except sharing-only users and guest users. If your Mac is connected to a network account server, anyone with an account on that server can share your screen using their network username and password. See Join your Mac to a network account server.
    2. Only these users: Screen sharing is restricted to specific users.

If you selected “Only these users”, click the Add button at the bottom of the user’s list, then do one of the following:

  • Select a user from Users & Groups, which includes all the users of your Mac except sharing-only users and guest users.
  • Select a user from Network Users or Network Groups, which includes users and groups with network server accounts. Network users and members of network groups can use their network name and password to connect to your Mac OS screen sharing apps.

Additional Options for Screen Sharing

To set additional options for screen sharing, click Computer Settings, then select one or both of the following:

  • Anyone may request permission to control screen: Before other computer users begin sharing the screen of your Mac, they can ask for permission instead of entering a username and password.
  • VNC viewers may control screen with password: Other users can share your screen using a VNC viewer app on iPad or a Windows PC, for example by entering the password you specify here. If you select this option, you should create a very secure password.

So, these were the steps to fix the issue of the MAC OS screen-sharing app.
