If your inbox is full of emails from people or sources that you don’t know, then you might be receiving unwanted spam emails.
What are unwanted emails?
These are the most common types of unwanted emails that we get
Spam emails: These are the junk mails that are sent in bulk to a list of subscribers for promotional purposes.
Forced or accidental subscriptions: When you visit a new app or website, the service can push you into agreeing to receive messages from them.
Phishing emails: These messages are malicious emails that pretend to be marketing emails but contain software capable of installing themselves on your device and spying on your activities and can even do identity theft.
No sender emails: known as ghost emails for iOS users. These mails without any content or sender are mails created due to system glitches.
Unwanted personal messages: These are messages sent to you by someone you know but you don’t want to interact with or reply.
How to stop spam emails?
If you’re tired of receiving these kinds of messages, here’s how to stop spam emails and get rid of the ones that are currently clogging up your inbox.
1. Mark as spam
All email services have the option to mark spam and have an algorithm that stops spam and junk mail from coming to your inbox by putting them away in a folder.
If you find a spam email in your regular inbox, mark it as spam.
Now if you receive more emails from this address, they will be moved to spam automatically.

2. Unsubscribe from Mailing Lists
If you get marketing emails or other alerts from companies that you don’t want, you can click the Unsubscribe button either found at the top of the email page or near the bottom of the content. When you click this button, it will redirect you to the unsubscribe page of that company.
Once you’ve unsubscribed, you’ll be excluded from future mailing lists of the companies.
3. How to Get Rid of Your Existing Spam Emails
You can use the search function in your email portal. Search for “unsubscribe”, select all the emails that appeared as search results then click delete or the trash can icon.
In this way, all spam emails in your inbox will be cleared at once.

4. Don’t Interact with Spam Emails
If you open a spam mail to see what’s inside, don’t do it from now on.
And if you do want to open and see it, don’t click on any links inside them.
When you open spam mail, it signals to the sender that your account is active, and could lead to receiving even more spam emails as a result.
5. Never Respond to a Spam Email
When someone bombards you with tons of junk mail, you may be tempted to respond and perhaps tell them to stop. If you respond to the email, it could be a sign that your account is active and you open spam emails. It works as a validation for the sender with malicious intent, and it may result in an escalation of spam email. In some cases, you may end up giving away more of your personal information.
6. Use an Alternate Email Address
If you want to open some spam emails to check out their content as some of them contain good things or discounts. Today, most email services come with an option to set up an alternate email address.
With this address, you can interact with websites and platforms that could potentially inundate you with spam messages. You can even filter anything addressed to your alternate address into a specified folder for easier management.
7. Block the Spam Emails
If you receive more personal mails and you no longer want to communicate with them, you can block the sender of that email thread. Blocking emails from specific senders is an effective measure to stop spam. Most email services offer users a way to block senders in just a few steps.
8. Be careful about revealing your email address :
You should not give your email address to unauthorized or suspicious websites, and only to those websites that you trust or authorized companies.

How are spam emails harmful?
Many spam emails can contain malicious attachments and viruses that could damage or infiltrate your device in seconds.
Most spam emails confuse you with manipulative links, extraordinary discount offers, lottery messages, and damaged links.
Thus, it’s important not to fall into these traps by avoiding all interactions with suspicious emails.
