Today’s topic is basically focusing on the communication error in Epson scanner, and Epson gt s50 fatal error and also Epson wf 2530 scanner error. So, starting with the Epson printer won’t scan communication error solution:
Restarting Shell Hardware Detection
The Shell Hardware Detection service monitors and provides notifications for Autoplay hardware events. This service is used as the main tool for detecting when other hardware is plugged into your system. This service is responsible for detecting scanners, printers, removable storage devices, etc. If there is a problem with this service, your computer might not detect the scanner. We can try restarting this service and reconnect the scanner and see how this goes.
- Press Windows + R, type “services.msc” in the dialogue box and press Enter.
- Search for the service “Shell Hardware Detection”. Right-click on it and select “Properties”.
- Make sure that the startup type is set to “Automatic”. Now close the window, right-click on the service once again and select “Restart”.
- Now unplug/disconnect your scanner with your computer. Wait for a couple of minutes before plugging it back in. If Shell Hardware Detection was the problem, your computer should recognize the scanner immediately.
Changing from LPT1 to USB 001 Virtual Printer Port
Line Print Terminals belong to the rather old technology of connecting printers and scanners to your computer. Nowadays, most of the printers have transitioned from LPT to USB. We can try changing the ports of the printer and see if this makes any difference. This issue was particularly known to work for users who lost the functionality of the scanner after migrating to Windows 10.
- Press Windows + R, type “control panel” in the dialogue box and press Enter.
- Once in the control panel, click on the option “Large icons” present at the top-right side of the screen and select “Device and printers”.
- Right-click on the Printer and select “Properties”.
- Now click on “Ports” and change the ports from “LPT1” to “USB 001”.
- Now unplug/disconnect your scanner with your computer. Wait for a couple of minutes before plugging it back in. Now check if you can use the scanner utility without any problems.
Resetting Windows Image Acquisition (WIA)
Another workaround which we can try before updating the drivers of the scanner is resetting Windows Image Acquisition service. This service is related to capturing the images when you scan using your computer. It is an application programming interface (API) that enables graphics software to communicate with imaging hardware such as scanners.
This process is a core part of fetching the required scanner document into your computer. Resetting this service can fix any problems if it was at fault.
- Press Windows + R, type “services.msc” in the dialogue box and press Enter.
- Once in services, navigate through all the entries until you find “Windows Image Acquisition”. Right-click on the service and select “Restart”.
- Now unplug/disconnect your scanner with your computer. Wait for a couple of minutes before plugging it back in. Now check if you can use the scanner utility without any problems
You can also try stopping the service and starting it later on manually if resetting doesn’t work.

Epson wf 2530 scanner error
The most common and likely cause to this type of problem is either some foreign object/paper dust is stuck in the paper feed or printer, or the paper sensor in the feed tray has become dirty or defective.
Turn Off the printer, unplug it from the power as well as from the computer completely. Then remove all paper from the paper feed unit and blow it out with compressed air a few times. With a flashlight look inside the paper feed to ensure there is nothing obstructing the paper feed mechanism down inside the printer where it is not easily seen.
Next, take moistened Q-tips and clean the rubber rollers in the automatic sheet feeder using it. Then blow some compressed air inside the printer as well to remove excess dust and to dry the rollers.
Holding the printer in both hands, turn it upside down and gently shake it for a few seconds to see if anything falls out of the paper feed area. Then plug the printer back up and replace it with a fresh, small stack (about 5 pages) of paper. Then try to print again.
If still, it doesn’t help then, as a last resort you can try forcing a thick paper or fold an A4 piece of paper in half, and then by hand push it through the machine, hopefully, this may push any objects out. After that turn the printer OFF, when it is on, by unplugging it from the power source. Then unplug it from the computer and leave it that way for 10 minutes. Then replace everything back.
