How to Deactivate Apple ID on Mac, iPhone?

Apple ID is an authentication method used by Apple for iPhone, iPad, Mac and other Apple devices. Apple IDs contain user personal information and settings. When an Apple ID is used to log in to an Apple device, the device will automatically use the settings associated with the Apple ID. If deleting an Apple account is absolutely necessary, then the user can follow the methods described in this article to deactivate Apple ID and delete it completely.

1. On your Mac, click on the Apple icon in the Menu Bar and open System Preferences.
2. Click on iCloud.
3. Click on Sign Out.

1. Go to appleid.apple.com and sign in with your Apple ID.
2. If prompted, type in your two-factor authentication code.

1. Open a web browser on your Mac, PC, or iPad, and navigate to privacy.apple.com. The option is not available on the iPhone.
2. Enter your Apple ID email and password. Answer any security questions or authorize two-factor authentication on another device if prompted.
3. On the Apple ID & Privacy page, click Continue.
4. Under Deactivate Your Account, select Get Started.
5. Select a reason for deactivating your account from the dropdown menu, such as “prefer not to say,” and select Continue.

7. Choose how to receive account status updates: the email used to create the Apple ID, a different email address, or by phone. Then select Continue.
8. Note down the unique access code, which is needed to contact Apple Support regarding your request, including if you wish to reactivate your account at any time. Then select Continue.
9. Enter the access code to confirm that you have received it. Then select Continue.
10. Review the important details one more time and select Deactivate Account.
11. Your account will be deactivated after seven days as Apple says the process may take up to seven days. Your account will remain active while verification is in progress.
12. Don’t forget to sign out of the Apple ID on all devices and web browsers before the account is deactivated.
